Dear Students & Families,
It’s time for the Read-a-thon Competition! This is a friendly way to encourage Flagg students to read and is an important fundraiser for the PTG. Our goal is 80,000 pages read at Flagg Street School between December 17th and January 31st. Students can read or be read to. Please consider pledging!
Here is how it works:
1) Set your goal for the number of pages you are going to read during the Read-a-thon. Think big!
2) Ask parents, relatives or neighbors for a per-page pledge (e.g. $.05, $.10, $.20 per page you read) or a specific donation amount if you reach your reading goal. (If you don’t get pledges, it’s okay, you can still participate and have a chance to win.)
3) Write the names of the people who pledge and the amount pledged on the pledge sheet.
4) Every time you read, write down the date, the name of the book and the number of pages you read in your reading log.
5) On February 1st, add up the total number of pages you read and tell your sponsors.
6) Collect your pledges and bring them in to your teacher by February 15th. If you don’t have any pledges, still bring your reading log in and we’ll count that towards the prize-winning totals.
